Is watching Porn illegal in India?
Yes when watching in Public but not when you are watching in private. This includes any kind of production or sale or even distribution of any material whose content is pornography in public is illegal.
Section 74 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita deals with sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment .This provision covers indecent physical advancement and also demand for sexual favours and showing a woman a pornographic content against her wishes
Child Pornography
It bears mention that even downloading any content relating to child pornography is illegal which also includes searching such content on the internet and may invite provisions under section 67(B) of the IT Act 2000 .Apart from that other sections like Sections 14 and 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act 2012.
Under Section 14(1) there is imposition of fine and imprisonment upto 5 years.
Section 95 of the BNS deals with whoever hires, employs or engages any child to commit an offence shall be punished with imprisonment of either description which shall not be less than three years but which may extend to ten years, and with fine;
Investigating agency like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) deals with Pornography which includes child pornography. There has been several raids of late on such crimes which are more specifically referred to as cyber crimes
